A pair of precision-machined block guards for the Subaru EJ20, designed to give extra support around the cylinder bores of the open-deck engine block.

The open-deck design of the EJ20 leaves the upper section of the cylinder liners relatively unsupported. On engines running higher boost and cylinder pressures, extra bore support can be beneficial in a high-performance build.

These aluminium block guards are machined to follow the shape of the EJ20 block and fit around the cylinder bores. They support and stabilise the upper cylinder walls while keeping the necessary coolant passages open.

Application

Suitable for compatible Subaru EJ20 open-deck engine blocks. Because of the machining and tolerances involved, the guards should be installed by an experienced engine machine shop. Final machining, clearances and bore geometry should be checked as part of the engine build.
