Stage X Gearbox Propshaft Bung Tool

For a technician, there is nothing worse than gearbox oil running down the elbow while lifting out a Subaru gearbox. Transmission oil is stubborn and the smell is strong too.

This simple tool is a useful addition to any tool kit and is compatible with 5-speed, 6-speed and automatic transmissions.

During removal, once the propshaft is out, slide this bung into its place and the gear oil stays in the gearbox. This saves time and effort, as the gearbox no longer needs to be drained.

Made from anodised aluminium with a knurled grip on the end, the bung slides snugly into the propshaft oil seal so the gear oil cannot escape.

When refitting the gearbox, remove the bung and carefully slide the propshaft in.
