The Stage X oil catch tank kit has several benefits.

On a standard engine, oil vapour from the crankcase and cylinder heads is usually recycled back through the air intake system. This oil-contaminated air is then drawn into the engine, which lowers the octane level of the fuel being used. The oil residue also coats the intake hoses, turbo, intercooler and connecting pipework, which slows air flow, reduces cooling ability and causes general wear.

A catch tank kit vents the excess vapour into a separate tank, where the oil is separated from the air before being returned directly to the sump. This keeps the engine's breathing system clean and free of oil residue, and is especially useful on high-performance or tuned engines, where dense oil vapour can hurt performance.

The kit includes all the parts required for a complete installation, plus an oil drain hose between the catch tank and the sump, so oil does not keep filling the tank and is returned to the engine instead. This particular kit is designed for modified GC8 and GF8 Imprezas that have been retrofitted with the EJ25 or Twin Scroll type sump configuration.
